Trenton, N.J. – Mayor W. Reed Gusciora today announced that the City of Trenton received a donation of 4,000 masks from Bristol Myers Squibb’s Pan Asian Network.
The donation was presented earlier this week by Dr. Jing Yang, Global Lead of the Pan Asian Network, at the Trenton Fire Department Headquarters on Perry Street. Dr. Yang was inspired to make this donation after reading about middle school students Valentina Funari Ferri, Luisa Buss, and Olivia Trochu, who donated over 1,500 masks to Trenton in August.
Joining Mayor Gusciora and Dr. Yang were Acting Director of Emergency Management Grady Griffin, Acting Director of Fire and Emergency Services Christopher Maziarz, and Business Administrator Adam Cruz, along with Bristol Myers Squibb Community Affairs Director Chris Baggett, Greater Trenton CEO George Sowa and Greater Trenton Vice President Bryan Evans.
“With COVID cases on the rise and flu season just around the corner, this mask donation could not have come at a better time,” said Mayor Gusciora. “The need for PPE is still critical for the safety of our senior citizen community and the front-line responders in our police and fire departments. I’m grateful to Dr. Yang and the Pan Asian Network for this generous contribution to the well-being of our capital city.”
“While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the communities where we live and work, we are inspired by the efforts of our first responders who are working tirelessly on the front lines to care for our neighbors in need,” said Dr. Yang “And these masks are a small gesture of our appreciation for their great efforts to help those in our community who have been most affected by the pandemic.”
