The City of Trenton’s COVID-19 Emergency HOME Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program will provide financial assistance to low income individuals and families in the City of Trenton who experience financial hardship due to COVID-19. The program will provide one-time payments of up to $3,000 per qualifying household to help pay past-due and/or upcoming rent and utilities from April 1 through December 30, 2020.
While HOME program funds are primarily a resource for the physical development of affordable housing, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread economic damage and created an unprecedented need for housing assistance among individuals and families directly affected by these unanticipated economic changes.
The suspensions and waivers provided through the CARES Act will allow the City of Trenton to use HOME funds to facilitate urgent housing assistance to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.
$507,333.84 of prior year HOME funds were allocated to the COVID-19 Emergency HOME TBRA Program by resolution 20-218.
The City of Trenton COVID-19 Emergency HOME Rental Assistance Program is subject to the HOME Final Rule 24 CFR Part 92.
